The Faithful Bridegroom.

Jesus and His bride

Hosea is a prophet in the Old Testament who God commanded to marry an unfaithful woman as a prophetic sign to the people of Israel. Hosea's marriage to this harlot was a representation of the Lord's relationship with Israel. The covenant that Israel entered with the Lord at mount Sainai (Exodus 19) was understood as a marriage covenant between Israel and Yahweh. The Lord took Israel as His wife and now she was being unfaithful to Him by serving other gods. This prophecy will have its ultimate fulfilment in the end times.

Hosea2: 2-7 Complete Jewish Bible

Rebuke your mother, rebuke her; for she isn't my wife, and I'm not her husband. She must remove her whoring from her face, and her adulteries from between her breasts. Otherwise, I will strip her naked and place her as she was the day she was born, make her like a desert, place her like a dry land and kill her with thirst.  I will have no pity on her children, for they are children of whoring their mother prostituted herself, she who conceived them behaved shamelessly; she said, 'I will pursue my lovers, who give me my food and water, wool, flax, olive oil and wine.' Therefore, I will block her way with thorns and put up a hedge so she can't find her paths.  She will pursue her lovers but not catch them. She will seek them but won't find them. Then she will say, 'I will go and return to my first husband; because things were better for me then than they are now.'

The Lord is telling Hosea and the righteous remnant to rebuke the nation of Israel. (Mother could refer to the leaders in the nation who led people astray) The Lord is saying that Israel is no longer His wife because they are being unfaithful to their marriage covenant with Him. Now the Lord will take away the blessings He has given them because they thought it's the false gods who gave them these blessings. The Lord will put a hedge around Israel so they can't keep worshiping their false God's, then they will decide to return to the Lord as their Husband.

Hosea 2:8 CJB
For she doesn't know it was I who gave her the grain, the wine and the oil; I who increased her silver and gold, which they used for Ba'al.

In that time a husband was required by law to provide these items as his wife's basic needs. The Lord is the one who was providing these things for Israel, not the false gods. This shows that the Lord remained faithful to the marriage covenant even while Israel was being unfaithful to Him!

Hosea 2:13-20 CJB
I will punish her for offering incense on the feast days of the ba'alim, when she decked herself with her earrings and jewels, pursuing her lovers and forgetting me," says ADONAI. "But now I am going to woo her - I will bring her out to the desert and I will speak to her heart. I will give her her vineyards from there and the Akhor Valley as a gateway to hope. She will respond there as she did when young, as she did when she came up from Egypt. "On that day," says ADONAI "you will call me Ishi [My Husband]; you will no longer call me Ba'ali [My Master]. For I will remove the names of the ba'alim from her mouth; they will never again be mentioned by name. When that day comes, I will make a covenant for them with the wild animals, the birds in the air and the creeping things of the earth. I will break bow and sword, sweep battle from the land, and make them lie down securely. I will betroth you to me forever; yes, I will betroth you to me in righteousness, in justice, in grace and in compassion; I will betroth you to me in faithfulness, and you will know ADONAI.

After the Lord punished Israel, He will woo her again, He will bring her into the wilderness again like when they came out of Egypt and she will respond as she did in Exodus 19 when she entered into marriage covenant with the Lord. Then Israel will call the Lord "Ishi", meaning "my husband". The Lord will betroth Israel to Himself forever as they accept Yeshua (Jesus) as messiah and their Bridegroom God. We know this will only be fulfilled at the 2nd coming of Christ because when this happens, they will never worship false gods ever again. They will remain faithful to the Lord and also not experience war again. They will remain in their land safely.

The biggest act of harlotry in Israel's history will be when they make covenant with the anti Christ. (Daniel 9:27) The false Christ, the false bridegroom.

Hosea 3:1-2 CJB
ADONAI said to me, "Go once more, and show love to [this] wife [of yours] who has been loved by her boyfriend, to this adulteress - just as ADONAI loves the people of Isra'el, even though they turn to other gods and love the raisin cakes [offered to them]." So I bought her back for myself with fifteen pieces of silver and eight bushels of barley .

Hosea's wife was unfaithful to him and got herself into debt where she now had to pay off her debt as a slave, but the Lord commanded Hosea to buy her back just as Yeshua bought humanity back on the cross and He will save Israel out of slavery in the end times.

v. 5
Afterwards, the people of Isra'el will repent and seek ADONAI their God and David their king; they will come trembling to ADONAI and his goodness in the acharit-hayamim. (Latter days)

This verse tells us directly that this message of Hosea will be fulfilled in the end times. After divine discipline, Israel will repent and seek the Lord their God and accept Yeshua as their King from David's linage.

This message assures us that the Lord has not cast off His people Israel. (Romans11:1) He loves them now and will continue to be faithful to them even in the darkest time in their history which is still to come. He will not forsake them; He will work to save them from their enemies who enslave them and He will woo them as a loving husband to restore the intimate relationship. He will not let them go! Halelujah!

2 Timothy 2:13 KJV
If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
